I like Bill O’Reilly. I find him funny. Limbaugh I find him a bore. Which is a shame because I loved him growing up. Jon Stewart is the funniest and fairest, but I would have to be an idiot to get my news from Comedy Central. Just like anyone who gets their Abrahm Lincoln facts from Bill O’Reilly’s book, “Killing Lincoln” has to be pretty Republican. But just for fun here are the factual mistakes made in his book:
1) “Uses the word “furl” (tying a sail) instead of “furrows” (a narrow depression), to describe someones brow.”
2) “He claims Generals Lee and Grant would “never meet again” after a scene in “Killing Lincoln,” though they do in 1865 to discuss paroled prisoners.”
3) Lincoln is on the Penny not the $20.
4) “He says the Ford’s Theatre burned to the ground in 1863. However, the fire actually broke out in 1862, only leaving the walls blackened, but still standing.”
5) He claims Mary Todd Lincoln later became “Diff’rent Strokes” actor Todd Bridges.
6) ‘O’Reilly fails to provide evidence for his assertion that Secretary of War Edwin Stanton may have been involved in a plot to kill Lincoln.’
7) “There are several mentions of the Oval Office, including scenes in which Lincoln is placed there. The Oval Office wasn’t built until 1909, during the Taft administration.”
8) Lincoln drove a Lincoln.
